ALBANY- Gertrude (Warren) Willigan, 106, a longtime resident of Albany, died Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Albany County Nursing Home.
Gert was the widow of Joseph F. Willigan who passed away on September 21, 1977. She was born on November 18, 1905 in the town of Roseboom, NY Otsego County and was a graduate of Cherry Valley High School. She was also a graduate of the Albany Hospital School for Nurses.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and her dear friend and former neighbor, Joan Brown of Raleigh, NC. She was predeceased by her parents Bert and Ann (Neal) Warren; her sisters Helen Warren, Marguerite Wickwire and M. Genevieve Manz.
On behalf of Gert’s family, “Thank You” to the staff of the Albany County Nursing Home and the nurses of Community Hospice for the care and kindness extended to her during the time she was a resident.
At Gert’s request there will be no public services. Burial was in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
