Purello, Michael C.

SCHENECTADY-  Michael C. Purello, 63, entered into eternal rest, Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Albany VA Hospital from prostate cancer as a result of exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. Born in Albany, son of the late Salvatore and Maybell Purello; he graduated from Albany High School. After graduation, he entered the US Navy and became a member of the Seabees; proudly serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. Upon his return from service, he earned a degree in Engineering from HVCC. Michael worked for the railroad under Conrail and later CSX working hard for 30 years until he retired in 2009.  He was an avid fly fisherman and outdoorsman.
  He was a life member of the Sheehy Palmer VFW Post and a Communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.
  A special thanks to the Oncology and Radiology Departments at St. Peter’s Hospital for the care given to Michael.
  He was the husband of Kathleen (Vadney) Purello; father of Michelle Cline-Duty (Paul), Vincent Cline (Tiffany), Michael S. Purello (Cheryl), Kimberly Rucinski (William), Marianne Purello, Jacqueline Coons (Sean) and Nicole Purello (Chris); grandfather of Nathan, Austin, Ryan, Kaylin, Salvatore, and Michael; Pop-pop of Emma, Sarah, and Hailey; brother of Stephen J. Purello; also survived by his beloved canine companion Molly and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 1, 2012 at 9:30 am from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc. 490 Delaware Ave. Albany thence to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd.,Schenectady 12306 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at Funeral Home on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 4-8 pm.  Interment will follow the Mass at 1:30 pm in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road.,Schuylerville, NY. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send memorial contributions to the VA Hospice, c/o Statton VA Medical Center, 113 Holland Ave., Albany, NY 12208.
