CLIFTON PARK- John R. “Jack” Fox, Sr. 77, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012 at St. Peter’s Hospital. He will be deeply missed. Born in Albany, on April 14, 1935, he was the son of the late William C. Fox, Sr. and Anne Elizabeth Bensinger Fox.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Verna C. Wesselmann Fox. After graduating from the last class of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, class of 1955, he worked as an electrician with Local Union 724 now 236Jack grew up in Albany helping his father with the family business Fox’s Live Bait Shop. Although an electrician by trade, he could build or repair almost anything. Jack enjoyed coin collecting, gardening, reading and loved traveling with his wife in their motor home throughout the US. They spent many winter seasons in Florida with cherished friends of over 50 years, John and Sally Murphy. Jack also loved family gatherings especially with his children and grandchildren. He will be forever remembered for his enduring positive attitude, work ethic and generosity to his family.
Devoted father of John (Lisa) Fox, Jr., Diane (Richard) Wink, Kimberly (Joel) Weiss and Bethaney (Daniel) Carpenter; loving Papa of eight grandchildren; Alice, Ella, Erica, Sarah, Christopher, Hunter, Emily and Jackie; brother of Helen (late James) Curry, William Fox, Jr.; Leonard (Antoinette) Fox, Thomas (Jane) Fox, Mary Frances ( late Jack) Lansing, Marcia (Wayne) Spaulding, Linda Fox and sister-in-law Eva (late Ralph) Wesselmann. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and longtime friends Joseph and Betty Petrone, Carole (late Robert) Morris and Betty Duck.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 10:00 am in the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit. Relatives and friends are invited. There will be no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send memorial contributions to the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 57 Hurlbut Street, Albany, NY 12209 or the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd, Loudonville, NY 12211.
